Tuchel Expresses Disappointment Over Home Crowd Support Following Dominant Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel voiced his disappointment that the England team did not get more backing from the home fans during their decisive triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

Tuchel was happy to see his side showcase their good form, with finishes from Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the first 20 minutes effectively ending the contest. But, he was unhappy with the atmosphere at the iconic venue.

“With one and a half sessions to prepare against a organized team and we did very well,” Tuchel commented. “We could have been 5-0 up at half-time. We couldn’t score the additional goals. It was quiet. There was no any energy back from the crowd. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you deliver in the first quarter? We didn’t let them escape. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s disappointing because the team deserved greater backing today.”

“I stand by my words. We cannot do more than leading 3-0 in a derby. I hoped for a bit more support in moments where it becomes tough.”

“In the second half, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s football and that is it.”

Squad Decisions Vindicated by Performance

Away from potentially starting a fight with fans, the manager also caused a stir by omitting Bellingham and Foden from his team selection. Yet the decision was backed up by Morgan Rogers delivering another standout performance in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“He plays his game,” the head coach explained. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is competing for his position.”

Bellamy Hopes for Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that his team, who host Belgium in a key qualifying match on next week, learn from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this friendly,” the manager said. “I need to see our standing. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? This performance gives me motivation.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was taken off at the break after hitting a post and is a concern when England face Latvia in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
