The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving captivating, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose creations have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, visionary style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
