The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros winning the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.

"It's incredible for this squad, our city, our country," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, making him third in history after Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, are still the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
