Ex- BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Grilling After Assertions of Partiality in Disclosed Document
We open with queries from Conservative lawmaker the panel's head, that oversees the panel.
She commences by giving context to the unauthorized document authored by Michael Prescott and released in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the BBC tilting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it straight, fair and just," he declares.
In response to a query if he considers the BBC is structurally prejudiced, the adviser answers: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - both informative and entertainment programming."
However, he continues: "There remains significant effort that must be undertaken at the BBC."
Another former external BBC specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "continuous process and vigorous discourse" regarding dynamic and complex issues.
"Was the BBC willing to engage in a genuine discussion and exchange and act accordingly?" she reflects. "In my view, yes they were."
