British tennis star Emma Raducanu concludes this year's campaign and has decided to continue with coach through next year.
Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slams in the current campaign.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her final two events this season as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.
Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu because of a lower back issue that has been a concern at times this year.
Those results followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.
She held three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.
Raducanu won 28 matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.
The British number one reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.
Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
