Both Senior Officers Moments Before the Attacker Got Stunned

A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a colleague who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a blade to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a traffic accident in that location in mid-2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.

"Officer knifed," the officer stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording released by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife extended.

He collided with the policeman who tripped and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the ground even though being repeatedly struck with the blade.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get help on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell sustained two lacerations to his neck and additional wounds to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.

Officials said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's bleeding before paramedics came.

The new award arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in early 2024.

They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The responses of the entire team in the end rescued themselves and meant no members of the public endured any harm."
